100 Naruto Trivia Questions That Will Make You Reconsider Which Arc You Actually Remember

By
Lauren Clark, Journalism Cert.
A group of diverse cosplayers striking dynamic poses indoors, showcasing various character styles.

The Third Hokage’s name is the single most missed question I’ve ever asked in an anime trivia round. People who can recite the entire Akatsuki roster in order of death will stare at the ceiling for thirty seconds and write down “Sarutobi” like that’s a first name. It’s not. It’s his family name. And the silence in the room when you reveal that is one of my favorite things in this job.

That’s the thing about Naruto trivia. The series ran for 15 years across two manga, two anime, movies, novels, and a sequel that’s still going. People absorbed hundreds of episodes, but they absorbed them at thirteen, often through fansubs with questionable translations, and what stuck isn’t always what they think stuck. The confident answers come fast. The correct answers come slower.

I’ve built these 100 questions from years of watching people get things wrong in interesting ways. Some of these are layups. Some will start arguments at your table. A few will make you pull out your phone to verify because you’ll be absolutely certain I’m wrong. I’m not. But I understand the impulse.

The Ones You Think You Know

1. What is Naruto Uzumaki’s stated dream throughout the original series?

Starting here because if you can’t get this one, the next 99 are going to be a long night.

Show Answer
To become Hokage. The specificity matters in later questions, so lock this in.

2. What village is Naruto from?

I use this as a warm-up, but I’ve seen someone confidently say “Leaf Village” and then get told they needed the proper name. Know both.

Show Answer
Konohagakure, the Village Hidden in the Leaves. Accepting “Hidden Leaf Village” depends on how strict your quizmaster is.

3. Who are the three members of Team 7 at the start of the series?

The trick isn’t knowing them. It’s whether someone accidentally includes Kakashi as a member instead of the sensei, which burns a slot.

Show Answer
Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, and Sakura Haruno.

4. What rank are Naruto and his classmates when they graduate from the Academy?

This one catches people who jumped straight to the chunin exams arc and backfilled the rest from wiki summaries.

Show Answer
Genin. The lowest rank of ninja. Common wrong answer: Chunin, because that exam dominates so much of the early story that people merge the timelines.

5. What is the name of the Nine-Tailed Fox sealed inside Naruto?

This used to be a hard question. Then Shippuden happened and it became the freebie it is now.

Show Answer
Kurama.

6. Who is Naruto’s sensei and the leader of Team 7?

Show Answer
Kakashi Hatake.

7. What does Kakashi always carry with him and read in public?

The funniest thing about this question is watching people try to remember the title while also deciding whether to say what the book actually is in front of mixed company.

Show Answer
The Make-Out Paradise series (Icha Icha Paradise), written by Jiraiya. They’re romance novels. Aggressively adult romance novels.

8. What is Naruto’s favorite food?

If you’ve seen even three episodes, this one is locked in. The show made absolutely sure of that.

Show Answer
Ramen, specifically from Ichiraku Ramen.

9. What technique does Naruto learn first that sets him apart from his classmates?

The question is about what he learns in episode one, not what he’s famous for later. That distinction matters.

Show Answer
Shadow Clone Jutsu (Kage Bunshin no Jutsu). He learns it from the Scroll of Seals, stolen from the Hokage’s office. Common wrong answer: Rasengan, which comes much later.

10. What is the name of Naruto’s Academy teacher who has a scar across his nose?

He’s one of the most emotionally important characters in the first episode and then barely appears for the rest of the series. The scar is the only visual cue most people retain.

Show Answer
Iruka Umino.

Where the Confidence Starts to Crack

11. What is the name of the first major villain Naruto and Team 7 face on their first real mission?

Show Answer
Zabuza Momochi. The Demon of the Hidden Mist. If you said Haku, that’s the apprentice, not the primary antagonist.

12. What is Haku’s unique kekkei genkai?

This is the first time the series introduces bloodline limits, and it does it by giving a gentle kid the power to kill you with mirrors made of ice. Kishimoto understood pacing.

Show Answer
Ice Release (Hyōton). He combines water and wind nature transformations.

13. During the Chunin Exams, what is the first test that the genin must pass?

The real answer here is more interesting than people expect, because the test itself is a bluff.

Show Answer
A written exam, proctored by Ibiki Morino. The actual test is about whether you have the courage to take the tenth question, not whether you can answer the other nine. The written questions are designed to be nearly impossible so that participants are forced to cheat without getting caught, testing intelligence-gathering skills.

14. Who is the proctor of the second stage of the Chunin Exams, held in the Forest of Death?

One of the most memorable character introductions in the whole series. She licks blood off Naruto’s cheek with a kunai. You don’t forget that.

Show Answer
Anko Mitarashi.

15. What curse does Orochimaru place on Sasuke during the Chunin Exams?

Show Answer
The Curse Mark of Heaven (Ten no Juin), also called the Cursed Seal. It’s placed on his neck.

16. Name all three of the Legendary Sannin.

Most people get two immediately and then freeze on the third. Which one they freeze on tells you a lot about which part of the series they cared about most.

Show Answer
Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Orochimaru. They were students of the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi.

17. What animal does each Sannin have a summoning contract with?

This is where the table gets competitive. Someone always forgets Tsunade’s.

Show Answer
Jiraiya summons toads, Orochimaru summons snakes, and Tsunade summons slugs. Yes, slugs. Katsuyu is enormous and can split into smaller versions of herself for healing.

18. What is Rock Lee’s signature fighting style, and why is he forced to use it exclusively?

Rock Lee is the emotional center of the Chunin Exams for a lot of people, and this question gets at why.

Show Answer
Taijutsu (physical combat). He can’t use ninjutsu or genjutsu at all. He was born without the ability to mold chakra for those techniques, so he trained his body to an absurd degree instead. His fight against Gaara is still one of the best in the series because of what it represents.

19. Who does Naruto fight in the final round of the Chunin Exams?

People remember this fight vividly but sometimes mix up whether it was the finals or the preliminaries.

Show Answer
Neji Hyuga. Naruto wins by using a shadow clone to emerge from underground. Common wrong answer: Gaara, but Naruto fights Gaara during the Konoha Crush invasion, not during the formal exam bracket.

20. What is the name of the Hyuga clan’s fighting style?

Show Answer
Gentle Fist (Jūken). It targets the chakra pathway system and internal organs. The name is ironic. There’s nothing gentle about it.

21. What is the actual first name of the Third Hokage?

Here it is. The question I mentioned at the top. I have watched entire tables of anime fans go silent on this one. Sarutobi is his clan name. His first name is right there in the series and almost nobody holds onto it.

Show Answer
Hiruzen. Hiruzen Sarutobi. The most common wrong answer is just “Sarutobi,” offered with absolute confidence.

22. How does the Third Hokage die?

The emotional weight of this scene carried the original series into genuinely dark territory for the first time.

Show Answer
He sacrifices himself using the Reaper Death Seal (Shiki Fūjin) to seal Orochimaru’s arms during the Konoha Crush. He doesn’t manage to seal all of Orochimaru, but he takes enough to cripple him.

23. Who is the Fifth Hokage?

Show Answer
Tsunade. She’s also the first female Hokage and the world’s greatest medical ninja.

24. What is the name of the technique Jiraiya teaches Naruto that becomes his signature move?

Show Answer
The Rasengan. Originally created by the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze.

25. How many steps does Jiraiya use to teach Naruto the Rasengan?

This is a deep cut that separates people who watched the training arc from people who skipped to the fight.

Show Answer
Three steps: pop a water balloon with chakra rotation, pop a rubber ball with chakra power, and combine both into a balloon without popping it (containment). Naruto uses a shadow clone to help him form it because he can’t do it alone at first.

The Part Where You Start Arguing With Your Friends

26. Name all the members of the Akatsuki. All of them.

I give this as a team question and set a timer. Someone always forgets Kakuzu. Always.

Show Answer
Pain/Nagato, Konan, Itachi Uchiha, Kisame Hoshigaki, Deidara, Sasori, Hidan, Kakuzu, Zetsu (Black and White), Tobi/Obito Uchiha, and Orochimaru (former member). Some lists include founding member Yahiko, whose body becomes the Deva Path of Pain.

27. What is the Akatsuki’s stated goal, and what is its actual goal under Tobi’s manipulation?

Show Answer
The stated goal is to capture all nine Tailed Beasts to create a weapon that would end wars through deterrence. The actual goal, under Obito’s direction, is to use the Tailed Beasts to revive the Ten-Tails and cast the Infinite Tsukuyomi on the entire world.

28. What are the paired Akatsuki members? Match them up.

This is a table-breaker. People get three pairs easily and then the wheels come off.

Show Answer
Itachi and Kisame. Deidara and Sasori (later Deidara and Tobi). Hidan and Kakuzu. Pain and Konan. Zetsu operates largely alone or with Tobi. Orochimaru was paired with Sasori before defecting.

29. What is Itachi Uchiha’s secret, revealed after his death?

This is the single biggest recontextualization in the entire series. It changes every scene Itachi was ever in.

Show Answer
Itachi massacred the Uchiha clan on orders from the Konoha leadership to prevent a coup d’état. He spared Sasuke because he loved him and wanted Sasuke to eventually kill him, both as atonement and to give Sasuke the Mangekyo Sharingan. He was a double agent inside the Akatsuki the entire time, feeding information back to Konoha.

30. What unique ability does Hidan possess that makes him nearly impossible to kill?

Show Answer
Immortality, granted through his Jashin religion rituals. He can survive being decapitated and dismembered. Shikamaru defeats him by blowing him apart and burying the pieces in a hole in the Nara clan’s forest, where he presumably remains, still alive but unable to do anything about it. That’s one of the darkest fates in the series.

31. What is Deidara’s opinion on art?

This question works because it starts an argument about whether Deidara or Sasori is right. In a room full of anime fans, that argument can last twenty minutes.

Show Answer
“Art is an explosion!” He believes true art is fleeting and transient. Sasori disagrees, believing art should be eternal and everlasting, which is why he turns himself and others into puppets.

32. What is the name of the organization that Naruto’s father helped lead during the Third Shinobi World War?

Trick framing. He didn’t lead an organization. But the question makes you reach for one.

Show Answer
This is a trick question. Minato Namikaze didn’t lead an organization. He was a squad leader and eventually became the Fourth Hokage. If you answered “ANBU” or something similar, the question got you.

33. What is Naruto’s mother’s name, and what was special about her?

Show Answer
Kushina Uzumaki. She was the previous jinchūriki of the Nine-Tails before Naruto, and she was from the Uzumaki clan of Uzushiogakure, known for their powerful life force and sealing jutsu. Her red hair and fiery personality are referenced throughout the series.

34. Who was the Fourth Hokage, and what was his nickname?

Everyone knows the name. The nickname is where half the room goes quiet.

Show Answer
Minato Namikaze, known as “Konoha’s Yellow Flash” (Konoha no Kiiroi Senkō) because of his incredible speed using the Flying Thunder God technique.

35. What technique is Minato famous for, and who originally created it?

Show Answer
The Flying Thunder God Technique (Hiraishin no Jutsu), a space-time ninjutsu that allows instant teleportation to pre-marked locations. It was originally created by the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju. Many people attribute it solely to Minato because he perfected it.

Sharingan, Byakugan, and the Eyes That Ruined Everything

36. What are the three main dōjutsu (eye techniques) in the Naruto universe?

Show Answer
Sharingan (Uchiha clan), Byakugan (Hyuga clan), and Rinnegan. The Rinnegan is considered the most powerful and is linked to the Sage of Six Paths.

37. What is required to awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan?

The answer to this question is one of the cruelest pieces of worldbuilding in any shonen series.

Show Answer
The user must witness or experience the death of someone very close to them. The trauma of that loss triggers the evolution. This means the Uchiha clan’s greatest power is directly tied to their greatest suffering, which is thematically perfect and deeply messed up.

38. What is the drawback of using the Mangekyo Sharingan, and how can it be overcome?

Show Answer
Overuse causes the user to gradually go blind. This can be overcome by transplanting the Mangekyo Sharingan of a close relative (ideally a sibling), which creates the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan with no vision loss. Sasuke does this with Itachi’s eyes.

39. What is Kakashi’s Mangekyo Sharingan ability?

Show Answer
Kamui, which creates a dimensional rift that can warp targets (or parts of targets) into another dimension. Obito has the other eye, which gives him the ability to make himself intangible by shifting his body into that same dimension.

40. Whose Sharingan does Kakashi have, and how did he receive it?

Show Answer
Obito Uchiha’s. During the Third Shinobi World War, Obito was crushed under a boulder and, believing he was dying, asked Rin to transplant his Sharingan into Kakashi’s damaged left eye as a gift. Common wrong answer: people sometimes say Itachi or Shisui, but those eyes went elsewhere.

41. What is the Byakugan’s blind spot?

This comes up in exactly one fight and it’s a huge deal when it does.

Show Answer
A small blind spot at the back of the neck, above the first thoracic vertebra. Kidōmaru exploits this during his fight with Neji in the Sasuke Recovery Mission arc.

42. Who is the only non-Uchiha character born with a Sharingan in the original timeline?

This is a trick question and I love using it because the room erupts.

Show Answer
No one. No non-Uchiha is born with a Sharingan. Kakashi received his through transplant. Danzō acquired his through transplant. If someone says “Kakashi,” they’ve confused receiving with being born with. That distinction drives people crazy.

Jutsu, Seals, and the Techniques People Misremember

43. What are the five basic chakra natures?

Most people get four. The fifth one always takes a beat.

Show Answer
Fire, Wind, Lightning, Earth, and Water. They exist in a rock-paper-scissors cycle: Fire beats Wind, Wind beats Lightning, Lightning beats Earth, Earth beats Water, Water beats Fire. Wait. That’s wrong. Wind beats Lightning? People argue about this constantly because the cycle feels counterintuitive. The actual cycle: Fire > Wind > Lightning > Earth > Water > Fire.

44. What is Naruto’s chakra nature?

Show Answer
Wind. He discovers this using chakra paper, which splits in half when a wind-nature user channels chakra into it. This is why his completed Rasengan variant involves wind: the Rasenshuriken.

45. What is the name of the forbidden technique that the Fourth Hokage used to seal the Nine-Tails?

Show Answer
The Reaper Death Seal (Shiki Fūjin). It summons a shinigami that seals the target but takes the user’s soul as payment. Minato split the Nine-Tails’ chakra in half, sealing the Yin half within himself and the Yang half within newborn Naruto.

46. What hand seal do characters most commonly use to activate the Shadow Clone Jutsu?

You’ve seen this gesture thousands of times. Can you name it?

Show Answer
The cross-shaped hand seal, with the index and middle fingers of each hand crossed perpendicular to each other. It’s unique to this jutsu and one of the most iconic gestures in anime.

47. Why is the Shadow Clone Jutsu classified as forbidden?

People assume it’s about power. It’s actually about cost.

Show Answer
Because it divides the user’s chakra equally among all clones. Creating too many can be fatal for most ninja due to chakra exhaustion. Naruto can use it freely because of his massive chakra reserves, augmented by Kurama.

48. What unique property of Shadow Clones makes them invaluable for training?

Show Answer
When a shadow clone is dispelled, all of its experiences and memories transfer back to the original. This means Naruto can train with hundreds of clones simultaneously and gain the equivalent of hundreds of hours of practice in a fraction of the time.

49. What is the name of Sasuke’s signature technique, taught to him by Kakashi?

Show Answer
Chidori, also known as Lightning Blade (Raikiri) when Kakashi uses it. Kakashi developed the technique originally.

50. What is the fundamental difference between the Rasengan and the Chidori?

Halfway through. This question is the thesis of the entire Naruto-Sasuke rivalry expressed as a jutsu comparison.

Show Answer
The Rasengan is pure shape manipulation of chakra with no elemental nature applied (in its base form). The Chidori is nature manipulation, concentrating lightning chakra into a piercing strike. Minato created the Rasengan as an incomplete technique, intending to add nature transformation to it. His son eventually does exactly that with the Rasenshuriken, completing his father’s work.

The Valley of the End and Everything After

51. What is the name of the location where Naruto and Sasuke have their first major fight at the end of Part I?

Show Answer
The Valley of the End (Shūmatsu no Tani), featuring giant statues of Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha. They fight there again at the end of Shippuden, which is the kind of symmetry Kishimoto lives for.

52. Who are the five genin that Tsunade sends to retrieve Sasuke when he defects to Orochimaru?

This is a great team question. Everyone remembers Naruto and Shikamaru. The other three take work.

Show Answer
Shikamaru Nara (team leader), Naruto Uzumaki, Choji Akimichi, Neji Hyuga, and Kiba Inuzuka. They’re later joined by Rock Lee and the Sand Siblings as backup.

53. What does Orochimaru want from Sasuke?

Show Answer
His body. Orochimaru’s signature technique allows him to transfer his consciousness into another person’s body, and he wants the Sharingan. He’s been body-hopping for decades to extend his life and wants an Uchiha body as his ultimate vessel.

54. How many years pass between the original Naruto series and Naruto Shippuden?

Show Answer
Two and a half years. Naruto trains with Jiraiya during this time skip. Common wrong answer: three years, which is close enough that most quizmasters will argue about whether to accept it. I don’t.

55. Who is the first Akatsuki member to die in the series timeline (in battle, on-screen)?

This starts arguments because people confuse order of appearance with order of death.

Show Answer
Sasori, killed by Sakura and Chiyo during the Kazekage Rescue Mission. He arguably allows himself to die, which makes the answer more complicated than it seems. Some argue it’s technically a draw because he chose not to dodge the final strike.

56. What does Gaara become in Shippuden?

Show Answer
The Fifth Kazekage, leader of Sunagakure (the Hidden Sand Village). The kid who couldn’t make a single friend becomes the leader of an entire village. That’s genuine character development.

57. Which Tailed Beast is sealed inside Gaara?

Show Answer
Shukaku, the One-Tail. A tanuki (raccoon dog) made of sand. Gaara’s inability to sleep without Shukaku taking over is one of the most disturbing details in the early series.

58. How many Tailed Beasts exist in total?

Show Answer
Nine, numbered by the amount of tails they have, from the One-Tail (Shukaku) to the Nine-Tails (Kurama). They were all created by the Sage of Six Paths when he split the Ten-Tails’ chakra.

59. What is a jinchūriki?

Show Answer
A human who serves as the host/container for a Tailed Beast. The word literally translates to “Power of Human Sacrifice,” which tells you everything about how the ninja world views them.

60. Name the jinchūriki of the Eight-Tails.

This character is one of the most beloved in Shippuden, and people still occasionally blank on his name because they’re too busy remembering his rapping.

Show Answer
Killer B (also written Killer Bee). He’s the adoptive brother of the Fourth Raikage and he raps. Badly. Constantly. He’s also one of the most powerful fighters in the entire series.

The People in the Background Who Weren’t Background

61. What is Shikamaru’s signature phrase about most situations he encounters?

Show Answer
“What a drag” (Mendokusē). It’s his response to essentially everything, and it masks the fact that he’s probably the smartest character in the series.

62. What is Shikamaru Nara’s IQ, as stated in the series?

The number is absurdly specific and people either know it exactly or they don’t.

Show Answer
Over 200. Asuma states it’s above 200 based on the assessment tests. For reference, this would make Shikamaru the smartest person to have ever lived by a wide margin. Anime doesn’t care about your bell curve.

63. What clan technique does Shikamaru use?

Show Answer
Shadow Possession Jutsu (Kagemane no Jutsu), which allows him to extend his shadow to connect with an opponent’s shadow and control their movements.

64. What are the three members of Team 10, and who is their sensei?

Show Answer
Shikamaru Nara, Ino Yamanaka, and Choji Akimichi. Their sensei is Asuma Sarutobi, son of the Third Hokage. The Ino-Shika-Cho trio mirrors their fathers’ generation, which mirrors the generation before that.

65. What are the three members of Team 8, and who is their sensei?

Show Answer
Hinata Hyuga, Kiba Inuzuka, and Shino Aburame. Their sensei is Kurenai Yuhi. Shino is the one everyone forgets, and there’s a running joke in the series about exactly that.

66. What is the name of Kiba’s ninja dog partner?

Show Answer
Akamaru. He starts as a small white puppy and by Shippuden is large enough to ride.

67. What clan ability does Shino Aburame use?

The answer to this question genuinely grosses people out, which is part of why Shino is underrated.

Show Answer
He uses kikaichū, parasitic insects that live inside his body and feed on chakra. At birth, Aburame clan members offer their bodies as nests for these insects in exchange for the insects’ combat cooperation. It’s a symbiotic relationship, and yes, the bugs live inside him at all times.

68. Who does Hinata have a crush on throughout the entire series?

Show Answer
Naruto. She’s in love with him from the very beginning, and he doesn’t figure it out until The Last: Naruto the Movie. That’s hundreds of episodes of obliviousness.

69. In what moment does Hinata first confess her feelings to Naruto?

This is one of the most emotionally charged moments in Shippuden and people remember the scene but not always the context.

Show Answer
During Pain’s assault on Konoha. She jumps in to protect Naruto from Pain despite knowing she has no chance of winning, and confesses her love before being struck down. This triggers Naruto’s six-tailed transformation.

70. What is the name of Might Guy’s signature technique that he uses against Madara Uchiha?

Madara himself calls Guy the strongest taijutsu user he’s ever faced. That endorsement from the final villain carries weight.

Show Answer
Night Guy (Yagai), the ultimate technique unlocked by opening all Eight Inner Gates. Specifically, it’s the Evening Elephant and Night Guy techniques used after opening the Eighth Gate of Death. Madara literally says Guy is the strongest person he’s ever fought. Coming from Madara, that’s the highest compliment in the series.

The War Arc and the Reveals That Changed Everything

71. Who is Tobi’s true identity?

Show Answer
Obito Uchiha, Kakashi’s former teammate who was believed to have died during the Third Shinobi World War. Common wrong answer: Madara Uchiha, which is exactly what Obito wanted everyone to believe.

72. Why did Obito become a villain?

The answer is simultaneously understandable and infuriating, which is what makes it work as a story.

Show Answer
After being rescued by Madara, Obito witnessed Kakashi accidentally killing Rin Nohara (she threw herself onto his Chidori to prevent the Three-Tails sealed within her from being released inside Konoha). The trauma of watching the person he loved die at the hands of his best friend, combined with Madara’s manipulation, convinced him that the real world was irredeemable and the Infinite Tsukuyomi was the only solution.

73. What is the Infinite Tsukuyomi?

Show Answer
A genjutsu cast on the entire world by reflecting it off the moon, trapping every living person in an individual dream where their deepest desires come true. Meanwhile, their physical bodies are cocooned and slowly absorbed by the God Tree. It’s presented as paradise but it’s actually a form of extinction.

74. Who is Kaguya Ōtsutsuki?

The final villain of the series, and one of the most debated storytelling decisions Kishimoto ever made.

Show Answer
The mother of the Sage of Six Paths, an alien being from the Ōtsutsuki clan who came to Earth, ate the fruit of the God Tree, and became the first person to wield chakra. She’s the origin of all chakra in the Naruto world and the final antagonist of the series, appearing after Madara is betrayed by Black Zetsu. A lot of fans feel her introduction undercut Madara’s role as the final villain.

75. Who is the Sage of Six Paths?

Show Answer
Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki, the son of Kaguya. He defeated the Ten-Tails, became its jinchūriki, and later split its chakra into the nine Tailed Beasts. He’s essentially the founder of the ninja world and the origin of ninshu, the precursor to ninjutsu.

76. What are the names of the Sage of Six Paths’ two sons, and why do they matter?

This is the backbone of the entire series’ mythology, and most people can name one but not both.

Show Answer
Indra and Ashura Ōtsutsuki. Indra, the elder, inherited his father’s powerful eyes and spiritual energy (precursor to the Uchiha). Ashura, the younger, inherited his father’s body and physical energy (precursor to the Senju and Uzumaki). Their rivalry reincarnates throughout history. Madara and Hashirama were reincarnations. Sasuke and Naruto are the latest. The entire Naruto-Sasuke conflict is a cosmic cycle.

77. Who wins the final battle between Naruto and Sasuke?

I’ve seen this question nearly start a fistfight.

Show Answer
It’s technically a draw. They both lose an arm in the final clash. But Sasuke concedes ideologically, acknowledging that Naruto was right. So Naruto wins the argument, but neither wins the fight. If someone at your table says “Naruto won,” they’re not exactly wrong. But they’re not exactly right either.

78. What happens to Naruto and Sasuke’s arms after the final battle?

Show Answer
Both lose their dominant arms. Naruto eventually receives a prosthetic arm made from Hashirama’s cells, created by Tsunade. Sasuke chooses not to get a prosthetic, keeping his missing arm as a form of atonement.

79. Who does Naruto marry?

Show Answer
Hinata Hyuga, as shown in The Last: Naruto the Movie.

80. Who does Sasuke marry?

This answer genuinely surprises people who stopped watching before the ending.

Show Answer
Sakura Haruno. They have a daughter named Sarada. The fact that Sakura’s childhood crush actually works out is either heartwarming or frustrating depending on your read of their relationship.

The Deep Cuts That Separate Fans From Superfans

81. What is the name of the bridge in the Land of Waves that is named after Naruto?

This is from the very first real arc and it’s a beautiful detail that most people forget.

Show Answer
The Great Naruto Bridge. Tazuna names it after Naruto at the end of the Land of Waves arc. It’s one of the first times anyone acknowledges Naruto as someone worth honoring, and it happens before he’s done almost anything in the grand scheme of the story.

82. What is Kakashi’s face hiding? Has it ever been shown?

This question has fueled more fan speculation than almost anything else in the series.

Show Answer
Nothing remarkable. In episode 469 of Shippuden (a filler episode), his face is finally revealed and he’s just… handsome. No fangs, no buck teeth, no fish lips. Just a normal, attractive face. The joke is that there was never anything to hide. Years of speculation, resolved by the most anticlimactic reveal possible, which made it perfect.

83. What is the name of the sword that Zabuza wields?

Show Answer
Kubikiribōchō, the Executioner’s Blade. It’s one of the Seven Swords of the Mist and it can regenerate by absorbing iron from the blood of its victims.

84. Name three of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist.

Zabuza is free. Kisame is the second one everyone grabs. The third is where it gets interesting.

Show Answer
Zabuza Momochi (Kubikiribōchō), Kisame Hoshigaki (Samehada), Raiga Kurosuki (Kiba), Kushimaru Kuriarare (Nuibari), Jinpachi Munashi (Shibuki), Jinin Akebino (Kabutowari), Mangetsu Hōzuki, and Chōjūrō (current generation, in Boruto). Suigetsu aspires to collect all seven swords.

85. What is the name of Orochimaru’s hidden village?

Show Answer
Otogakure, the Village Hidden in Sound. He created it as a front for his experiments.

86. Who are the Sound Four?

Show Answer
Jirōbō, Kidōmaru, Sakon and Ukon (twins who count as one member), and Tayuya. They serve as Orochimaru’s elite bodyguards and escort Sasuke to the Sound Village. Kimimaro was originally their leader but was too ill to serve.

87. What disease does Kimimaro suffer from, and what clan is he the last survivor of?

Show Answer
He has an unspecified terminal illness. He’s the last survivor of the Kaguya clan (no relation to Kaguya Ōtsutsuki, confusingly), who had the kekkei genkai Shikotsumyaku, allowing them to manipulate their own bones as weapons. He dies mid-fight against Gaara and Rock Lee, collapsing just before delivering a killing blow. One of the most tragic “what if” characters in the series.

88. What is the name of the technique Kabuto uses during the Fourth Great Ninja War to resurrect dead ninja?

Show Answer
Summoning: Impure World Reincarnation (Edo Tensei). Originally developed by the Second Hokage, Tobirama. It requires a living sacrifice and DNA from the dead person. The resurrected ninja are nearly indestructible and retain all their abilities.

89. Who created the Edo Tensei, and why does that matter thematically?

Show Answer
Tobirama Senju, the Second Hokage. The same person who created many of the institutional structures of the ninja world also created some of its most destructive techniques. He invented the Edo Tensei, the Flying Thunder God, and the Shadow Clone Jutsu. He also created the Konoha Military Police Force and assigned the Uchiha to run it, which isolated them and contributed to the coup attempt that led to the massacre. Tobirama is simultaneously one of the greatest builders and one of the greatest sources of dysfunction in the series.

90. What is the name of Jiraiya’s spy network, and who is his most important informant within the Akatsuki?

Show Answer
Jiraiya’s spy network doesn’t have a formal name in the series, but his informant feeding him intel on the Akatsuki is never explicitly confirmed to be a specific member. However, it’s strongly implied and later confirmed that Itachi was feeding information to Konoha through various channels, making him effectively Jiraiya’s most valuable (if indirect) source. Some fans argue the informant referenced early in Part II is actually a separate unnamed contact.

The Ones That Hurt

91. How does Jiraiya die?

I’ve had people at trivia nights who couldn’t answer this one out loud. Not because they didn’t know. Because saying it still stings.

Show Answer
He’s killed by Pain (the Six Paths of Pain, controlled by Nagato) in the Hidden Rain Village. He fights alone after discovering Pain’s true identity, manages to send a coded message on a toad’s back revealing Pain’s secret, and then sinks into the depths of a lake. His final thoughts are about Naruto, and he decides that the tale of Naruto Uzumaki is a better story than his own. It’s the emotional turning point of Shippuden.

92. What is the coded message Jiraiya sends back to Konoha before dying?

This is an incredibly specific question that separates the people who watched from the people who absorbed.

Show Answer
A series of numbers burned into Fukasaku the toad’s back: “9, 31, 8, 106, 7, 207, 15.” These numbers correspond to page numbers and lines in one of Jiraiya’s books, spelling out “The real one is not among them,” meaning none of the six Pain bodies is the actual person controlling them. This clue leads Naruto to discover Nagato’s true location.

93. Who kills Asuma Sarutobi, and what are Asuma’s final words to Shikamaru?

Show Answer
Hidan kills Asuma using his Jashin ritual. Asuma’s final words to Shikamaru involve entrusting him with protecting the “king” of Konoha. He whispers who the king is, and it’s later revealed he meant the children of Konoha, the next generation. This moment defines Shikamaru for the rest of the series.

94. What does Neji say to Naruto before dying in the Fourth Great Ninja War?

Show Answer
He tells Naruto that his life is no longer just his own, and that everyone’s lives are connected to his. He calls Naruto a genius, echoing and inverting their conflict from the Chunin Exams where Neji dismissed Naruto as a failure. He dies protecting Naruto and Hinata from the Ten-Tails’ attack. It’s one of the most controversial deaths in the series because many fans feel it was done primarily to advance Naruto and Hinata’s relationship.

95. What is the significance of the phrase “Those who break the rules are scum, but those who abandon their friends are worse than scum”?

This is the moral thesis of the entire series compressed into one line, and knowing who said it first changes everything.

Show Answer
Obito Uchiha said it first, to Kakashi, during their time as teammates. Kakashi later adopts it as his personal creed and passes it on to Team 7. The tragedy is that Obito, the person who originally believed this, becomes the villain who abandons the entire world. And Kakashi, who initially disagreed, lives by those words forever.

The Final Stretch

96. In the entire run of the Naruto manga, what ninja rank does Naruto officially achieve before becoming Hokage?

This question gets the biggest reaction of any Naruto trivia question I’ve ever asked. Bar none.

Show Answer
Genin. Naruto never officially becomes a Chunin or Jonin in the manga. He goes from Genin directly to Hokage. The hero of the Fourth Great Ninja War, the jinchūriki of the Nine-Tails, the reincarnation of Ashura, the child of prophecy, the savior of the world, was technically a Genin the entire time. In the novels and Boruto, it’s mentioned he studies to make up for this, but in the original manga timeline, he’s a Genin who becomes Hokage. It’s the most Naruto thing possible.

97. What number Hokage does Naruto become?

Show Answer
The Seventh Hokage. Kakashi serves as the Sixth.

98. What is the name of Naruto and Hinata’s son?

Show Answer
Boruto Uzumaki. His name is a reference to Neji, whose name means “screw.” “Boruto” is the Japanese pronunciation of “bolt.” A bolt is a type of screw. Naruto named his son after the man who died protecting his family.

99. What is the name of Naruto and Hinata’s daughter?

Everyone remembers Boruto. Almost nobody remembers her immediately.

Show Answer
Himawari Uzumaki. She once accidentally activated the Byakugan and knocked out Naruto with a single hit on the day of his Hokage inauguration. He missed his own ceremony because his daughter one-shot him. That’s canon.

100. What is the full name of the ramen shop owner who fed Naruto when no one else in the village would even look at him?

This is the last question because it’s the one that matters most. Not the biggest fight, not the strongest jutsu, not the final villain. The guy who made ramen. In a story about a child that an entire village decided to hate, one man put a bowl in front of him and said sit down. Every Naruto fan knows the shop. Most of them can’t name the man. And that says something worth sitting with.

Show Answer
Teuchi. No surname given. He runs Ichiraku Ramen. He’s never had a single combat scene. He possesses no special abilities. He just fed a lonely kid when nobody else would, and he never stopped. In a series full of gods and demons and reincarnated warriors, Teuchi might be the most important character in Naruto’s life. And most people can’t remember his name.
